NO.
Clear braces are more aesthetic.
But metal or porcelain braces work better and more efficiently. They are best used in extreme cases. Are clear braces better than metal braces and why?
Neither are ';better'; in that they both will align the teeth, but the ceramic (clear) brackets are more fragile and tend to break easily if you are not very careful about what you eat and drink. Most orthodontists allow for so many broken brackets within the time you have your braces on and after that, they start charging for replacement brackets and that can really add up fast. The real advantage to ceramic braces would be the appearance; they are less noticeable on the teeth (unless you are like my kids or the kids I teach at high school who go and pay extra for the ceramic brackets but then put colored rubber backs on them--if you are f\going to do that, you may as well get metal). I know a lot of parents opt to have ceramic on the top and metal on the bottom to save some money since you can't see the bottoms anyway. Also, our orthodontist said, until corrected, many people have bites that exert too much pressure on the bottom brackets so they come off easier. The clear on top and metal on the bottoms may be a good choice for you--check with your orthodontist. Are clear braces better than metal braces and why?
metal braces are better
They work the same and they are either the same price or slightly more expensive, but nothing extreme. I have clear braces and I LOVE them. I wouldn't even think of getting metal. The only downside about them is that if your family is Italian and you eat red pasta sauce with dinner all the time (like my family), the little rubber ligatures that keep the wire on the bracket will stain yellow. My orthodontist lets me come in at any time to get them replaced when they stain but unless you have extremely white teeth, they aren't even noticeable when the are slightly stained.
They both work the same it is just a preference. Clear are a little more pricey
