I need help! metal or clear braces?!

Okay, so i am going into high school, and getting braces in a few weeks. My teeth aren't that bad if you just look at them, but the ortho. says there are many problems. So, i was going to get clear (ceramic) braces, but then i heard that a lot of people complained about them turning yellow, by eating and drinking certain things and that they were slower then normal metal braces. Is that true? or are clear braces still worth it? I am self conscious about them, and i would prefer the look of them, but if they are a pain in the *** then i am defiantly going to reconsider. The metal braces will be a little bit faster and slightly safer.





Ceramic brackets can break easier and tend to be slower (its a friction thing with the wires).





I'm not entirely sure about the coloration thing, I think it has more to do with plaque accumulation than the bracket, because ceramic doesn't pick up stain typically...





I think you'll be happy either way, people are very accepting of any type of braces now-a-days.

Metal is what I have, and in the end (if you take care of them like you're supposed to) you'll be happy with the results.





On the other hand - I don't know much about clear braces.
If you will wear clear braces it will improve your smile and it remain a secret to others, until you disclose.


Metal braces has many disadvantages and not at all comfortable and even looks ugly. Choice is all yours go and make the right decision. After all its all about the charming smile that you desire.

Dont get clear. at all. they do turn yellow. its icky :P
i can imagine that ceramic is not as durable as stainless steel, so it might take longer, i'm not really sure.


i don't think clear braces are worth it, it's just a vanity thing.


just get the metal ones.
