I'm getting braces in about a month and I need to decide which type I want..I was thinking of going with ceramic because they are less noticeable than metal braces, though i heard that they can stain?? The amount of time that it takes really isn't a concern of mine, I just want easy and effective. Also I want the type of braces that has the least possibility of turning my teeth yellow considering I currently have a white smile :).
A couple of day ago I heard of Damon braces, and so I researched them and discovered that they are more noticeable than metal braces, monoticeableble than ceramic, but also more expensive.
Please answer based on experience, knowledge, or profession.Damon, Ceramic/Clear, or Metal Braces?
Well I have damons, and no they are not more noticable than metal. they are actually less because 1) they are smaller, and 2) you dont have coloured elastics making them stand out more its just metal. I think they are working well. Apparently they are faster, and i think they are pretty good so far. My teeth have moved alot and ive only had them 5 months. good luckDamon, Ceramic/Clear, or Metal Braces?
If you are conscious about your looks you could go in for ceramic brackets. Usually, people in the modeling /acting fraternity go for these. They are just as efficient as stainless steel braces. But yeah, ceramic brackets can stain with time. They are pretty inconspicuous in the beginning, but after about 7 months or so they stain, usually a shade of yellow.
If you don't mind the obvious cosmetic pitfall of the stainless steel brackets, you might as well go for these. Their colour will not change with time, they are economical and they are equally efficient.
You will have take care of your oral hygiene during your treatment though ( you can use orthodontic tooth brushes) and at the end of your treatment get a thorough oral prophylaxis done.
Damon braces...i had them for 11months it would have taken 20months if i had had any others (both dentist agreed with this statement). Firstly looks aren't too bad, hardly noticeable after people get used to you (as with all) and think about it half the time but mildly noticeable who cares?? I had a tooth horizontal on my bottom mouth and if i had gone with other braces it would have had to be removed :S But Damon braces have totally sorted it out and my teeth are perfect.
Yellow teeth No!!
I mean i brushed my teeth once a day 2mins and drank tons of Coffee and cola and as white as ever.
Id go for damon worth it easily for what you pay its a bargin
Good luck!
I have ceramic braces.
The only part that stains is the clear elastic that goes around each bracket.
But those get changed with each visit.
I also find that I'm the only person that notices.
They do just as good a job as metal braces.
