i am 25.Should i get clear or metal braces?
When choosing the correct braces for your orthodontic treatment, you may consider using clear ceramic braces.
The advantage of clear braces are the obvious, they are almost invisible and really hard to even tell you have braces from your peers.
However ceramic braces are not as strong as metal braces and are usually ruled out in serious orthodontic cases.
Metal braces provide strong and a more comprehensive treatment. The downside with metal braces is they are the traditional metal/silver look that is viewed as by the public to not be attractive.
Whatever you decide, the price will vary quite significantly. We recommend that if you are serious about getting your teeth straighter, then to go with the traditional metal. They allow the orthodontist to apply various trade tricks and avoid having to replace the brackets as often as would ceramic.
In many cases ceramic braces have done just as good of a job as metal would have done, so it is really a case by case basis and will vary.
Good luck to getting straighter teeth!
Should i get clear or metal braces?
I am 26 and have Damon's, which are half-clear and half metal on my ';social six'; and then metal everywhere else. They aren't extremely visible and are very low on the teeth, meaning they don't really stick out or make my lips look funny. My brackets are tiny and almost flush to the teeth.
Clear brackets or ceramic brackets are usually larger than traditional brackets and not everyone is a good candidate for these, all depending on what size teeth you have...
In terms of braces being noticeable, well - they are - no matter what type of braces you get. The arch wire will ALWAYS be visible, no matter what type of bracket you go with in the end. The wire is metal, so even with the clear brackets... the wire will show. Then if you have to wear rubber bands/ elastics, those will also show in the mouth.
Clear ligs tend to stain, however the brackets will not. The glue can leave the teeth a little discolored when the braces are on too. If you drink a lot of tea or coffee, going with clear ligs on either metal or clear brackets... you will see them. You might be able to ask for metal ties, rather than clear, however powerchains are usually in some color.
clear braces get yellow and can start to look gross
and metal ones are more visable but you can still see the clear ones anyway
the clear ones are bulky also and may make your lips look bigger
metal ones are cool you can change the colors
i would get the metal ones well i already have them
