Are metal or clear braces more effective?

i'm getting braces in a week and i'm trying to find some that wouldnt take as long

because i'm 15 and i dont want to wear them for too longAre metal or clear braces more effective?
Unfortunately if your teeth are extremely crooked you will have to wear them for as long as it will take to get them straight. Orthodontists do offer metal brackets, and i believe porcelain ones (they're white) but they can be more fragile and break. If you only have a few teeth out of alignment than maybe you wont have to wear them for more than a year. You dont want to rush the process bc if the tooth movement is done too rapidly then it will be very uncomfortable for you (because of the pressure from the wires and elastics) and rapid bone loss around the teeth getting moved.

Invisalign is another option but keep in mind it is more expensive and takes much longer to get the same result as metal braces.

Whatever the case, be happy you are getting them! so many people regret not getting them when they were young for whatever reason (primarily $$$) and people are well into their 40s wearing them now. The end result will be a beautiful smile to show off!Are metal or clear braces more effective?
They are both the same, one is just for aesthetic purposes.
I just want to disagree with what dmdgirl said, Invisalign (clear braces) are not more expensive and they do not take longer.
well , metal is weird so id get clear
clear ones will take longer... and they will only give you them if your teeth arnt really that messed up. they are more for gental alligning. i would go with the metal... dont worry, i know lots of old ppl with braces too. i had them from sixth grade to 9th grade, and it just depends on the state of your teeth to determin how long it will take. ask your ortho for an estimate on the treatment your getting.
