i get alot of plegm build up so i swallow and clear my throat but then i cant scream anymore??? is there anyway to fix this or am i scream incorecctly. if i am please explainWhen i do a metal growl or scream i get alot of phlegm build up so i clear my throat and i cant growl anymore?
I have been screaming for only a little while (about a year) but only just recently have gotten it to a point I am satisfied with, and this was without the phlegm buildup. Wherever you are when you're screaming I would definitely suggest having a glass of warm water at hand. Cold water will shock your vocal cords and constrict them. Having luke warm water will help your vocal chords stay loose, so there is as little chance of damaging them.

You know when something happens where you just naturally scream? It's that exact process, what your body does to push that scream. You don't notice it but you are using your diaphragm and your throat (not your vocal chords) to make it sound. Growling is simply screaming like that but purposely making it deeper (which comes from your chest and belly). Screaming is that same thing but pushing faster air and reaching a higher pitch.

You never need phlegm in situations where you naturally scream, so why should you when you purposely scream? Eventually you will get to the point that screaming purposely comes naturally, and thought isn't a factor.

Hope I helped.
