Clear or metal retainers?

Which is better?Clear or metal retainers?
Metal retainers are more duarble, clear ones wear out faster.


Metal:


-Last longer


-Colorful. =D





Clear:


-Less noticeable from a distance.


-Close up, they make your teeth look big.


-They wear out on the points of contact in your mouth. Molars, canines...





I would recommened metal. I used to have a bright purple glow in the dark one.Clear or metal retainers?
I just got my braces off last week. I asked the orthodontic assistant which was better, the metal or clear plastic retainers. She said the METAL ones because they are more sturdy and last longer. For some reason, I was given the clear plastic retainers and HATE them. They are uncomfortable and make it hard to talk. You can't bite down with them in your mouth. I've had both now and I prefer the metal Hawley retainer.
