thanks! What can clear up a rash from a metal necklace?
Usually the rashes from metal necklaces is due to the nickel found in the metal,.Most of the metals used in ornaments etc. have some nickel.
Nickel allergy can be treated symptomatically with steroid creams but will recur when such ornaments are continued to be worn.
Even sterling gold (22 carat has nickel as an impurity)
Home remedies can be calamine lotion but may not clear the rash. A steroid ointment like hydrocortisone which can be bought OTC will help.
But after the rash clears you should not wear any nickel containing ornaments because the rash can recur.
A substitute metal can be 24 carat gold or stainless steel or
pure platinum ornaments.
Home treatment
1.Wet compresses of BURROW's solution. This is an OTC preparation containing Aluminium Acetate.
2.Moisturising creams
3. Calamine lotion
I prefer recommending Burrow's solution if you do not like to apply a steroid cream.
You can create a buffer preventing the metal touching the skin by applying colourless nail polish.over the skin or over the ornament if you want to continue wearing it. but the results are doubtful.
If these fail you have to use steroid creams. What can clear up a rash from a metal necklace?
I have sensitive skin too, and calamine lotion works, but if I can't find it I use alcohol.
answer mine please.
